Chapter one · the terrace

The question

A stone wall above the caldera, agaves in clay pots, the afternoon light doing most of the work. Somewhere in these sixteen frames he stops talking and gets down on one knee.

Down the path, along the old stone wall, with the sun dropping toward the water and Oia stacked up on the hill behind.

The whitewashed dome from the front page. This is the whole set: sitting, standing, walking across it, and the kiss with the sun caught between us.
